Bristol on sides of River Avon

Bristol is among those cities in the world, which straddle along a river. River Avon cuts through the city while making its way towards the Avonmouth. It is the nexus of great tradition, history, art, architecture and River Avon passing through the city that makes Bristol a major tourist destination in the United Kingdom. The city is famous for a number of things all over the world. Such as street art, nightclubs, cafes and a variety of food stalls. We were traveling through different cities of Great Britain and had just visited London. Now we were planning to visit the South West England regions in order to fully explore the diversity of this part of the world.

Visiting the overwhelming ancient architecture of Bristol

We reached the city in the first week of November and found a place near the Wills Memorial Building. It is a gothic style building built in the early 20th century. It is considered one of the last gothic buildings on the country. We were highly interested in exploring the history of this place and taking using knowledge out of our visit. Next, we went to the Kabot Tower, which was built in the late 19th century in the memory of John Cabot. It is a tower style building built from red sandstone while cream bath stone has been used for decoration purposes.

Another highlight of our visit to the city is traveling through the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the world. This shows the architectural superiority of Britain in the mid-nineteenth century. The suspension bridge connects the Clifton region in Bristol to Leigh Weigh. It spans over the Avon Gorge and the River Avon. There are a number of other great places in the city and we spent a few days exploring them.

Boating in the Picturesque River Avon

We had spent most of our time exploring the historic places in Bristol and now we were up for a fun experience. We planned to boat in the River Avon which passes through the city. Boating is one of the greatest experience here for the tourists as the atmosphere and the views are breathtaking. We spend a few hours boating along the river and then we went back to our hotel.

We could only spend a few days in Bristol as a major event was starting in London, which we had to attend. However, we were taking some of the greatest memories of this trip with us to London.

Read about these other unique places around the world: Ghana, Luxembourg, Romania, Hong Kong and of course Hawaii and there incredible hotels.
